Conrad’s guilty; but its still not a happy occasion.

It was odd seeing the cheering that followed Conrad Murray’s verdict today. It was something I found to be a bit odd. Clearly, the guy didn’t mean Jackson any harm; there was literally no motive to his actions except he was being given a lucrative amount of pay to give Jackson what he wanted. Killing Jackson would just stop the big checks from rolling in, so why would he do it?

Well, that’s what the involuntary means in ‘involuntary manslaughter’ I agree with the verdict really; just not the people’s response to it. This isn’t a murderer being brought to justice here. Its a guy who made a bad mistake trying to keep a very wealthy person happy. If anything, this should be a sobering thing; a realization that temptation can pull anyone from a promising career and bright future to the very bottom they can reach just over one lapse of judgement.

That’s more or less all he did; not calling 911 right away doesn’t seem too bad to me when you consider that HE was a doctor, and Jackson was HIS patient. Plus, he was probably panicking a bit, which is a very human response. His mistake was choosing to give in to the temptation of taking the easy route of giving Jackson a medicine he should not have.

Do not forget to feel sorry for Conrad. He brought it on himself because of his poor judgement, but I’m sure he never intended anything bad to happen to Jackson.
